Anger is a Map

…anger is a map…Anger shows us where we want to go.

Julia Cameron, The Artist’s Way

I’m thankful that there have been very few identifiable hours or days in my life when my mood swings felt like being hit full-force in the face by a spiked volleyball.

Because it’s not pleasant.

Swinging from Hope to Despair to Anger to Grief to Betrayal to Hatred to Love to Hate to Shame to Joy is absolutely exhausting.

And getting new glasses is a chore.

This is why I don’t play volleyball, read horror, maintain painful relationships, or listen to presidential debates.

Usually.

Because I am an audiophile. I *LOVE* to listen to people talk about things they know about and love. Even listening to a friend talk about themselves can be a joyful experience, a sharing of love.

Last night’s debate was not about love. For this audiophile, it was worse than yet another broken nose.

If you’re having trouble processing it, trouble believing in the future of this country, trouble (honestly) with anything bad happening in your life today, Wait But Why has published a “transcript” of The Trump-Biden Debate, and it will make you laugh out loud.

Because we need to laugh.
Together.
Out loud.
So that we can hear each other.

LISTEN, says my anger. Even though it hurts your ears.
That is the map.
