“Writing our stories takes us beyond the grueling grind that life can unfortunately become, beyond the constraints of roles we find ourselves in each day, to make the world a bigger place.“
– Grant Faulkner, Pep Talks for Writers
This is not just a picture of a man who looks fabulous in a fascinator. Sporting those frisky red plumes is Grant Faulkner, a man who cares about writers.
He’s written the book, Pep Talks for Writers, and my upcoming posts will be pulling content from his book (and others) to share with you.
“You’ve had this book on your shelf for years, Yvette. Why now?”
Well, I’m writing.
And my commitment to you, my blog followers, friends, and fans, is to share my journey.
In this case, my writing journey.
For example, today, I’m VERY happy to sit down and write to you…
…but not finding it easy to write about what I *should* be tackling. Namely, the non-fiction manuscript due June 15th.
Just a shade over a month away.
Yeah, that’s terrifying.
So I’m turning to Grant and his book. I’m hoping that as lovely as he is in person, his book will be even better, helping me get to where I need to be. Helping me feel excited, confident, and ready to pitch my book at the Santa Barbara Writer’s Conference.
I’ll also be sharing some of my recent scribblings as a daily warmup activity, so stay tuned for more posts, closer to daily than weekly, as I share this intense run-up to June 15th here, with you.
What do you think?
